April on the Farm: Growth, Gratitude & Big Changes Ahead

April is, without a doubt, our busiest month of the year—and this one feels especially big.

We’re putting the finishing touches on our full garden redesign, just as we approach our last frost date here in Western Washington. The beds are almost all prepped, the pathways are cleared, and everything is finally taking shape. We've spent countless hours shoveling dirt, planting seeds, and transplanting trays of seedlings we've been tending since winter. It’s messy, exhausting, beautiful work—and the kind of effort that sets the tone for the whole growing season.

We also received some incredible news: we’ve been awarded a generous grant to install a 40-foot Gothic high tunnel. This is a huge leap forward for our small farm. The high tunnel will give us the ability to grow earlier in the spring and later into the fall, protect our crops from extreme weather, and boost overall flower production. It’s an investment in the future of Brave Blooms, and we’re so grateful for the support that made it possible.

On top of all this, we’re gearing up to launch our Summer CSA, with farm pickup right here at Brave Blooms. There’s something so special about sharing our flowers directly with our local community—and this year’s blooms are already shaping up to be our best yet.

We’re also thrilled to share that we’ve started working with a highly recommended local woodworker to build a custom flower stand that will live right here on the farm. It will be a welcoming spot for CSA pickups and bouquet sales, and a beautiful reflection of the heart and care we put into everything we grow.

The farm is bursting with signs of life—seedlings stretching toward the sun, birds nesting in the hedgerows, and the hum of bees returning as the days warm. Even on the longest days, when our hands are in the dirt from sunup to sundown, it’s hard not to feel completely in love with this work.

It’s wild to think how far we’ve come in just a short time. What started as a dream during one of the hardest seasons of my life has grown into a working flower farm with community support, a growing customer base, and now our first big infrastructure project. Every year brings new lessons and new milestones, and this spring feels like a turning point.

If you're nearby, we’d love to welcome you to the farm this summer. Whether you're picking up a CSA bouquet, a bulk floral order placed through our website, or a custom bouquet, we hope this space brings you the same joy and calm it brings to us.

Every step we take now lays the groundwork for a season full of color, connection, and growth. Thank you for following along and supporting us through each stage of this wild and beautiful journey.

With love and dirty hands,

Iesha
